IAHET Covid-19 Emergency Appeal
IAHET Covid-19 Emergency Appeal
Many of the young children and their parents who would normally have been fed at the
Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres we support in under-resourced townships like
Belhar, Gugulethu, Bonteheuwel and Langa are struggling with daily nutrition during the
current lockdown period.
Please help to fund food parcels, sanitizing and educational kits for distribution by
Grassroots Educare Trust (GET), the Centre for Early Childhood Development (CECD) and the
Foundation for Community Work, our long-standing and trusted partners in the ECD field.
All three agencies are appropriately accredited and geared up to deliver the services to the
aforementioned communities. The value of each hamper is R200 and the contents include basic food supplies as well as soap and sanitation materials that can sustain a family for approximately 2 weeks. Contents include breakfast cereals (Jungle oats and Maize meal), cake flour, fish oil, baked beans, legumes (e.g. lentils and split peas), tinned fish, tea, sugar, rice and sanitizing material (2 x bars of Dettol soap, Sunlight soap, and bleach).
In the six years that we have been operating in the field, the IAHET has spent over R3 million
on providing ECD services to over 1 200 children while more than 600 parents have been
trained in ECD Workshops that have empowered them to be of greater educational benefit
to their young children.
Your support for this one-off emergency project will be greatly appreciated.
