Family Fun on Imam Haron Rd

It was a sight to behold as hundreds of participants, ranging from the very young being
pushed in prams to the very old in their wheelchairs, streamed down Imam Haron Rd
during the inaugural Imam Abdullah Haron Education Trust (IAHET) Bibi’s Kitchen
Family Fun Walk.

Spurred on by friendly marshalls offering their encouragement at every intersection, the
6km route down Imam Haron Rd that incoporated a diversion along Queen Victoria and
Palmyra Rds and back to Imam Haron Rd to the finish line at Islamia College proved to
be comfortable with the strain being eased by the catchup conversations virtually
everyone conducted along the way.

“It was a most memorable event, “ said IAHET Deputy Chairperson, Ebrahim Mohamed.
“What struck me most was the amazing spirit of camaraderie and goodwill among all
those who participated. I must also compliment Itheko Event Management for their
superb organization.

“The response was amazing and it certainly augurs well for a much bigger IAHET Bibi’s
Kitchen Fun Walk next year. I am confident that we have the potential to rival some of
the biggest events of its kind in Cape Town.”

All the funds raised will go towards the IAHET’s Early Childhood Development projects
which are run in conjunction with the Centre for Early Childhood Development (CECD),
the Foundation for Community Work (FCW) and Grassroots Educare Trust (GET).
Race director Nazeema Jogee thanked all the sponsors, particularly title sponsor Bibi’s
Kitchen and Fun Walk organisers Itheko Event Management, for their tremendous
contribution in making the event the success it turned out to be.
